Besides serving in the Board of Directors of InnoPharma, Mr Raman Kapur is also non-executive Chairman of Global Pharmaceutical Services, LLC engaged in providing transition patient care services to patients undergoing surgery and the prevention of hospital readmissions which he co-founded after electing voluntary early retirement from Schering Plough Corporation in January 2005. At Schering, Mr. Kapur served as President, Warrick Pharmaceuticals, the U.S. generic operation of Schering Plough for the U.S. market and President of its World-wide Generics business; in addition, he was responsible for Schering’s selected non-core branded products for the U.S. market with annual sales of up to $ 60 million which were promoted via a contract field force.
Mr. Kapur joined Schering-Plough as a financial analyst in 1975 serving in progressively more responsible finance, product management, marketing and general management positions in the U.S. and internationally in Europe, Latin America, Middle East as well as India where he served for 5 years as Managing Director of Schering Plough’s Indian subsidiary, Fulford India Ltd based in Mumbai. Before taking over as President World-wide Generics, Mr. Kapur served as President of Schering-Plough's Global Animal Health business and President of its U.S. Animal Health business headquartered in Union, New Jersey.
Following graduation from Phillips Exeter Academy, Exeter, New Hampshire, Mr. Kapur received a B.A. degree in economics from Columbia College, New York and an MBA degree in finance and international business from Columbia University, New York.
Mr. Kapur's external interests cover health care, education and social and economic development in the developing economies. Mr. Kapur serves on the Board of Directors of the Capitol Health System in Trenton, New Jersey, the Board of Directors of the World India Diabetes Foundation sponsored by physicians at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota as well as the International Supervisory Board of the Center for Advanced Study of India at the University of Pennsylvania. He also served on the Board of Directors of the European Generic Pharmaceutical Association in Brussels, Belgium, as well as the Generic Pharmaceutical Association in Washington, D.C.
